Sump pump smart home integration

A method for implementing remote monitoring of sump pump systems, the system comprising:

• implementing remote control of a sump pump including a first sensor that is configured to detect water levels in a sump basin, wherein the sump pump is configured to activate and deactivate based on an output from the first sensor representing the water levels;
• detecting, via a second sensor, acceleration of the second sensor and generating acceleration data representing the detected acceleration;
• detecting, via a sump pump control system for the sump pump, an acceleration pattern in the acceleration data;
• detecting a sump pump condition corresponding to the acceleration pattern;
• and
• generating a value for a diagnostic metric based on the sump pump condition.

A method for implementing remote monitoring of sump pump systems, the system comprising:

• implementing remote control of a sump pump including a first sensor that is configured to detect water levels in a sump basin;
• detecting, via a second sensor, acceleration of the second sensor and generating acceleration data representing the detected acceleration;
• detecting, via a sump pump control system for the sump pump, an acceleration pattern in the acceleration data;
• detecting a sump pump condition corresponding to the acceleration pattern;
• and
• generating a value for a diagnostic metric based on the sump pump condition.
• transmitting the value for the diagnostic metric to a user interface device;
• and
• displaying the diagnostic metric at the user interface device.
