Abstract
A reaction system includes a vessel having a gas inlet and a gas outlet, a liquid within the vessel, a solid phase and a gas phase present within the vessel, and at least one liquid separator disposed within the vessel. The liquid has an upper liquid surface within the vessel, and the liquid separator is configured to remove at least a portion of liquid droplets generated based on the gas phase and the solid phase passing through the liquid.
Claims31
A system comprising:
- a vessel having a gas inlet and a gas outlet;
- a liquid within the vessel, wherein the liquid comprises an upper liquid surface within the vessel;
- a solid phase and a gas phase present within the vessel;
- and
- at least one liquid separator disposed within the vessel, wherein the liquid separator is configured to remove at least a portion of liquid droplets generated based on the gas phase and the solid phase passing through the liquid.

A process comprising:
- receiving a gas into a vessel, wherein the vessel contains a liquid;
- passing bubbles of the gas through the liquid, wherein a solid is present within the liquid;
- passing the gas out of an upper liquid surface at a top surface of the liquid;
- forming droplets of the liquid based on passing the gas out of the upper liquid surface, wherein the solid is separated from the liquid at the upper liquid surface;
- passing the gas and at least a portion of the solids out of the vessel through a gas outlet;
- and
- removing at least a portion of the droplets of the liquid before passing the gas and the solid out of the vessel.
