Abstract
The present invention is directed to topical ophthalmic compositions of a lipophilic compound and an oligomeric or polymeric carrier wherein the compositions are useful in the treatment and prevention of macular degeneration. The invention also includes methods of treating macular degeneration by using a topical ophthalmic composition of a lipophilic compound and an oligomeric or polymeric carrier.

A method for treating macular degeneration comprising administering a topical ophthalmic composition to the eye(s) of a patient, wherein said topical composition comprises a lipophilic compound selected from the group consisting of Compound A, Compound B and Compound C and a carrier selected from β-cyclodextrin sulfobutylether or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an aqueous solution.
