Airport stand arrangement

A method for detecting and tracking an aircraft, the method comprising:

• detecting and tracking the aircraft within a stand area as the aircraft is approaching a stand within the stand area and during parking of the aircraft at a parking position in the stand area, wherein the detection and tracking includes using output data from a radar-based system and output data from one or more additional systems selected from laser-based systems only;
• and
• determining a visibility based on the output data from the one or more additional systems;
• wherein
• the detecting and tracking includes, in response to the visibility being lower than a visibility threshold detecting and tracking the aircraft as the aircraft approaches the stand based on output data from the radar based system.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising computer code instructions which when executed by a device having processing capability configure the device to perform a method for detecting and tracking an aircraft, the method comprising:

• detecting and tracking the aircraft within a stand area as the aircraft is approaching a stand within the stand area and during parking of the aircraft at a parking position in the stand area, wherein the detection and tracking includes using output data from a radar-based system and output data from one or more additional systems selected from laser-based systems only;
• and
• determining a visibility based on the output data from the one or more additional systems, wherein
• the detecting and tracking includes, in response to the visibility being lower than a visibility threshold, detecting and tracking the aircraft as the aircraft approaches the stand based on output data from the radar based system.
