Transfer of nanoparticles to a substrate

A system for transferring a plurality of nanoparticles onto a substrate, comprising:

• a lattice comprising a plurality of cavities;
• a deposition apparatus configured to deposit a nanoparticle of a plurality of nanoparticles into each cavity of the plurality of cavities;
• a resin comprising an organic material;
• a dispenser configured to coat a surface with a resin;
• and
• a placing apparatus configured to:
• place the lattice onto the surface after the dispenser has coated the surface with the resin such that the plurality of cavities face the surface;
• remove the lattice from the surface after the resin has cured to the lattice;
• transfer the plurality of nanoparticles from the plurality of cavities to a side of a body of a contact lens by placing the lattice onto the body of the contact lens such that the plurality of cavities face the side;
• and
• remove the lattice from the body of the contact lens.

A method, comprising:

• forming a plurality of cavities in a polymeric substrate to form a lattice;
• interposing a solution between a superstrate and the lattice, the solution comprising a plurality of nanoparticles;
• depositing a nanoparticle of the plurality of nanoparticles into each cavity of a plurality of cavities of the lattice by controlling a motion of a superstrate with respect to the lattice;
• coating a surface with a resin, the resin comprising an organic material;
• placing the lattice onto the surface such that the plurality of cavities of the lattice face the surface;
• curing the resin to the lattice;
• removing the lattice from the surface;
• transferring the plurality of nanoparticles from the plurality of cavities to a side of a body of a contact lens by placing the lattice onto the body of the contact lens such that the plurality of cavities face the side;
• and
• removing the lattice from the body of the contact lens.
