Abstract

A display device includes a substrate on which a plurality of subpixels is defined, and a plurality of light-emitting elements respectively disposed in the plurality of subpixels. Each of the plurality of light-emitting elements includes a first semiconductor layer, a light-emitting layer on the first semiconductor layer, and a second semiconductor layer on the light-emitting layer. The first semiconductor layer includes a first part having a flat top surface, and a second part protruding upward from the first part and being in direct contact with a bottom surface of the light-emitting layer. An area of a top surface of the second semiconductor layer is larger than an area of a bottom surface of the second semiconductor layer.

Dependent claims

A display device comprising:

a substrate on which a plurality of subpixels is defined;
and
a plurality of light-emitting elements respectively disposed in the plurality of subpixels,
wherein each of the plurality of light-emitting elements comprises a first semiconductor layer, a light-emitting layer on the first semiconductor layer, and a second semiconductor layer on the light-emitting layer,
wherein the first semiconductor layer comprises a first part having a flat top surface, and a second part protruding upward from the first part and being in direct contact with a bottom surface of the light-emitting layer, and
wherein an area of a top surface of the second semiconductor layer is larger than an area of a bottom surface of the second semiconductor layer.

a plurality of light-emitting elements respectively disposed in the plurality of subpixels and each comprising a first semiconductor layer, a light-emitting layer on the first semiconductor layer, and a second semiconductor layer disposed on the light-emitting layer and configured such that an area of a top surface thereof is larger than an area of a bottom surface thereof;
a first planarization layer disposed over the substrate so as to be equal to or higher than a top surface of the light-emitting layer and lower than a top surface of the second semiconductor layer;

a second planarization layer disposed on the first planarization layer and disposed at a height equal to a height of the top surface of the second semiconductor layer.
