Alternative beam failure procedures for predicted beam blockage

A user equipment (UE), comprising:

• one or more memories storing processor-executable code;
• and
• one or more processors coupled with the one or more memories and individually or collectively operable to execute the code to cause the UE to:
• transmit, to a network entity, a first control message indicating a first beam from a plurality of available beams, the first beam for downlink communication with the network entity;
• receive, from the network entity, a second control message indicating a time duration that an object is estimated to at least partially block the first beam and an adjustment to one or more communication parameters associated with the time duration;
• and
• communicate with the network entity based at least in part on the second control message.

A method for wireless communications at a network entity, comprising:

• receiving, from a user equipment (UE), a first control message indicating a first beam from a plurality of available beams, the first beam for downlink communication with the UE;
• receiving one or more signals associated with an object having a trajectory that is predicted to at least partially block the first beam;
• and
• transmitting, to the UE, a second control message indicating a time duration that the object is estimated to at least partially block the first beam and an adjustment to one or more communication parameters associated with the time duration.

A method for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE), comprising:

• transmitting, to a network entity, a first control message indicating a first beam from a plurality of available beams, the first beam for downlink communication with the network entity;
• receiving, from the network entity, a second control message indicating a time duration that an object is estimated to at least partially block the first beam and an adjustment to one or more communication parameters associated with the time duration;
• and
• communicating with the network entity based at least in part on the second control message.
