Abstract
The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. Specifically, the disclosure provides a method and an apparatus for managing a discontinuous reception (DRX) active time such that multicast and broadcast service (MBS) reception is performed efficiently in an radio resource control (RRC) inactive state.
Claims20
A method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- receiving, from a base station, a radio resource control (RRC) release message including a suspend configuration, wherein the suspend configuration includes a multicast and broadcast service (MBS) multicast configuration for an RRC inactive state;
- receiving, from the base station while the terminal is in the RRC inactive state, a multicast transmission based on the MBS multicast configuration;
- and
- in case that a discontinuous reception hybrid automatic repeat request round trip time timer for downlink point to multipoint (drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL-PTM) is included in the MBS multicast configuration for the RRC inactive state, starting the drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL-PTM after an end of the multicast transmission.
A method performed by a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- transmitting, to a terminal, a radio resource control (RRC) release message including a suspend configuration, wherein the suspend configuration includes a multicast and broadcast service (MBS) multicast configuration for an RRC inactive state;
- and
- transmitting, to the terminal in the RRC inactive state, a multicast transmission based on the MBS multicast configuration,
- wherein a discontinuous reception hybrid automatic repeat request round trip time timer for downlink point to multipoint (drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL-PTM) included in the MBS multicast configuration is started after an end of the multicast transmission.
A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:
- a transceiver;
- and
- a controller coupled with the transceiver and configured to:
- receive, from a base station, a radio resource control (RRC) release message including a suspend configuration, wherein the suspend configuration includes a multicast and broadcast service (MBS) multicast configuration for an RRC inactive state,
- receive, from the base station while the terminal is in the RRC inactive state, a multicast transmission based on the MBS multicast configuration, and
- in case that a discontinuous reception hybrid automatic repeat request round trip time timer for downlink point to multipoint (drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL-PTM) is included in the MBS multicast configuration for the RRC inactive state, start the drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL-PTM after an end of the multicast transmission.
A base station in a wireless communication system, the base station comprising:
- a transceiver;
- and
- a controller coupled with the transceiver and configured to:
- transmit, to a terminal, a radio resource control (RRC) release message including a suspend configuration, wherein the suspend configuration includes a multicast and broadcast service (MBS) multicast configuration for an RRC inactive state, and
- transmit, to the terminal in the RRC inactive state, a multicast transmission based on the MBS multicast configuration,
- wherein a discontinuous reception hybrid automatic repeat request round trip time timer for downlink point to multipoint (drx-HARQ-RTT-TimerDL-PTM) included in the MBS multicast configuration is started after an end of the multicast transmission.
