Lossy compression for hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (harq-ack)

An apparatus for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE), comprising:

• at least one memory;
• and
• at least one processor coupled to the at least one memory, the at least one processor configured:
• to receive, from a network device, a plurality of transmissions;
• to generate an original hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) codebook based on whether each of the plurality of transmission is successfully decoded;
• to convert a block of k HARQ-ACK bits from the original HARQ-ACK codebook into a partition, a plurality of partitions for a plurality of blocks corresponding to quantized HARQ-ACK bits;
• and
• to transmit the quantized HARQ-ACK bits to the network device.

An apparatus for wireless communication by a network device, comprising:

• at least one memory;
• and
• at least one processor coupled to the at least one memory, the at least one processor configured:
• to transmit, to a user equipment (UE), a plurality of transmissions;
• and
• to receive, from the UE, quantized hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) bits comprising a plurality of blocks of k HARQ-ACK bits converted from an original HARQ-ACK codebook into a plurality of partitions.
