Segmented two part hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (harq-ack) for compressing a harq-ack payload

A user equipment (UE), comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• one or more memories coupled with the one or more processors and storing processor-executable code that, when executed by the one or more processors, is configured to cause the UE to:
• receive, from a network node, a group of downlink transmissions;
• segment a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)-acknowledgement (ACK) payload into a group of segments in accordance with a segmentation configuration, the HARQ-ACK payload including HARQ feedback for each one of the group of downlink transmissions;
• form, for each segment of the group of segments, a first HARQ-ACK part and a second HARQ-ACK part, a size of the second HARQ-ACK part being a function of the first HARQ-ACK part;
• jointly encode each first HARQ-ACK part;
• jointly encode each second HARQ-ACK part;
• and
• transmit the jointly encoded first HARQ-ACK parts and the jointly encoded second HARQ-ACK parts.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having program code recorded thereon for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE), the program code executed by a processor and comprising:

• program code to receive, from a network node, a group of downlink transmissions;
• program code to segment a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)-acknowledgement (ACK) payload into a group of segments in accordance with a segmentation configuration, the HARQ-ACK payload including HARQ feedback for each one of the group of downlink transmissions;
• program code to form, for each segment of the group of segments, a first HARQ-ACK part and a second HARQ-ACK part, a size of the second HARQ-ACK part being a function of the first HARQ-ACK part;
• program code to jointly encode each first HARQ-ACK part;
• program code to jointly encode each second HARQ-ACK part;
• and
• program code to transmit the jointly encoded first HARQ-ACK parts and the jointly encoded second HARQ-ACK parts.
