Image processing systems and methods of using the same

A computer-implemented method for processing images, the method comprising:

• receiving an initial image frame of a video image stream from an image sensor;
• determining a size for each of a plurality of sub-blocks of the initial image frame based on one or more sizing iterations performed for each of the plurality of sub-blocks;
• dividing the initial image frame into the plurality of sub-blocks based on the size;
• generating a plurality of histograms for the plurality of sub-blocks;
• determining a clipping level for each of the plurality of histograms based on one or more clipping iterations performed for each of the plurality of histograms;
• generating an histogram enhanced image frame for the initial image frame based on the plurality of histograms and the clipping level for each of the plurality of histograms;
• and
• generating one or more additional histogram enhanced image frames for one or more subsequent image frames of the video image stream received from the image sensor using the size and the clipping level determinations associated with the initial image frame.

A computer-implemented method for processing images, the method comprising:

• receiving a plurality of initial image frames from an image sensor;
• for each initial image frame of the plurality of initial image frames:
• determining a size for each of a plurality of sub-blocks of the initial image frame;
• generating a histogram for each of the plurality of sub-blocks of the determined size;
• determining a clipping level for each histogram;
• and
• generating a histogram enhanced image frame for the initial image frame based on the histogram and the clipping level for each of the plurality of sub-blocks;
• among the plurality of initial image frames, determining an average of the size and the clipping level determinations;
• and
• in response to receiving a subsequent image frame from the image sensor, applying the average of the size and the clipping level determinations to generate a histogram enhanced image for the subsequent image frame.
