• the spatial location of the at least one perception sensor has been determined such that at least one blind volume inside of a required coverage region of the at least one perception sensor is optimized at the vehicle.

A perception system for a vehicle, the perception system having at least one perception sensor, the perception system being configured to:

• determine a three-dimensional coverage map of the at least one perception sensor,
• receive vehicle specific geometry characteristics of the vehicle,
• estimate a coverage region for the at least one perception sensor in a vicinity of the vehicle by combining the vehicle specific geometry characteristics and the three-dimensional coverage map of the at least one perception sensor and by varying a spatial location of the perception sensor until the coverage region in the vicinity of the vehicle is optimized.
