Robotic process automation based password management

A computer system comprising:

• one or more computer processors;
• one or more computer readable storage devices;
• program instructions stored on the one or more computer readable storage devices for execution by at least one of the one or more computer processors, the stored program instructions comprising:
• program instructions to run, through a continuous integration server, a deployment process;
• responsive to encountering an access-controlled resource that requires a password, executing a password manager component;
• program instructions to utilize the password manager component to determine if the password is stored in an encrypted format on a database;
• responsive to determining the password is stored in the encrypted format on the database, program instructions to decrypt the password based on a master key, wherein the master key is managed through a generation algorithm;
• and
• responsive to decrypting the password, program instructions to integrate the password into a configuration file located in source code of an application, wherein the password is not accessible outside the password manager component.

A computer program product comprising:

• one or more computer readable storage devices and program instructions stored on the one or more computer readable storage devices, the stored program instructions comprising:
• program instructions to run, through a continuous integration server, a deployment process;
• responsive to encountering an access-controlled resource that requires a password, executing a password manager component;
• program instructions to utilize the password manager component to determine if the password is stored in an encrypted format on a database;
• responsive to determining the password is stored in the encrypted format on the database, program instructions to decrypt the password based on a master key, wherein the master key is managed through a generation algorithm;
• and
• responsive to decrypting the password, program instructions to integrate the password into a configuration file located in source code of an application, wherein the password is not accessible outside the password manager component.
