An improved firearm 10 having a beveled flow enhanced exhaust port 40 which more efficiently exhausts gas 28 and other material from the bore 23 of the firearm 10 directly to the ambient environment 44 in which the firearm 10 is operably deployed, thereby reducing barrel rise while creating a lesser amounts of projectile particulates 140 which are more efficiently exhausted from the firearm 10, and a method for reducing barrel rise which utilizes the flow enhanced and beveled exhaust port 40.
