Temperature resistant sol-gel

A sol-gel that is a cross-linked siloxane comprising:

• a first siloxane unit represented by formula (I):
• wherein X is an oxygen,
• R1 is a hydrogen, oxygen, hydroxyl, or silane group,
• R2 is a hydrogen, hydroxyl, or silane group,
• each of R3 and R4 is independently linear or branched C1-20 alkyl, C1-20 cycloalkyl, oxysilane, ether, epoxide, aryl alkylfluroide, cycloalkylfluoride, and arylfluoride groups,
• and n is 1 to 100;
• a second siloxane unit represented by formula (I), wherein the second siloxane unit is different than the first siloxane unit;
• and
• a hydrophobic agent represented by formula (I), wherein the hydrophobic agent comprises at least one alkylflouride group.

A method for preparing a sol-gel from a sol-gel mixture, the method comprising:

• producing a sol-gel mixture by mixing a first organosilane with a second organosilane in an organic solvent;
• adding a hydrophobic agent to the sol-gel mixture;
• and
• curing the sol-gel mixture to form a sol-gel.
