System for Ice Removal and Prevention of Ice Accumulation on Semi-Trailers and Intermodal Shipping Container Chassis Systems

A system for ice removal and prevention of ice accumulation on semi-trailers and intermodal shipping container chassis systems, the system comprising:

• a. a power supply;
• b. a semi-trailer having at least one surface and a plurality of twist-lock fittings for container chassis trailers;
• c. a plurality of aviation grade heating elements mounted to, and spaced apart at regular intervals from one another, the at least one surface of the said semi-trailer;
• d. one or more aviation grade heating elements placed on the said plurality of twist-lock fittings for container chassis trailers;
• e. at least one temperature sensor;
• f. at least one processor;
• and
• g. memory having computer executable instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the semi-trailer de-icing system to:
• i. allow a user to program a desired temperature of the semi-trailer having at least one surface;
• ii. sense a temperature of the semi-trailer;
• iii. heat the at least one surface and a plurality of twist-lock fittings for container chassis trailers with the said plurality of heating elements spaced apart at regular intervals from one another;
• and
• iv. maintain the said desired temperature of the at least one surface of the twist-locks for container chassis trailers.

A kit for ice removal and prevention of ice accumulation on semi-trailers and intermodal shipping container chassis systems, said kit for ice removal and prevention of ice accumulation on semi-trailers and intermodal shipping container chassis systems comprising:

• a. a connection to a power supply;
• b. a plurality of heating elements to be spaced apart at regular intervals from one another on at least one surface of a semi-trailer;
• c. at least one temperature sensor to be placed in proximity to the said heating elements to be spaced apart at regular intervals from one another on at least one surface of a semi-trailer;
• and
• d. a temperature controller unit including at least one processor and memory having computer executable instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the semi-trailer de-icing system to:
• i. allow a user to program a desired temperature of the semi-trailer having at least one surface;
• ii. sense a temperature of the semi-trailer;
• iii. heat the semi-trailer surface with the said plurality of heating elements spaced apart at regular intervals from one another;
• and
• iv. maintain the said desired temperature of the at least one surface of the semi-trailer.
