An extrusion-based 3D printer comprising:
- a pump connected to a nozzle and a resin reservoir;
- said nozzle connected to a printing arm;
- said pump draws resin from said resin reservoir and
- delivers resin to said nozzle;
- a curing source, said curing source comprised of plurality lights surrounding said nozzle;
- said lights spaced a sufficient distance from said nozzle to prevent light from reaching said nozzle;
- and
- barrier disposed between said lights and said nozzle, said barrier blocks light from reach said nozzle

A method of operating an extrusion-based 3D printer comprising the steps of:
- providing a pump connected to a nozzle and a resin reservoir;
- said nozzle connected to a printing arm;
- operating said pump to draw resin from said resin reservoir and transfer resin to said nozzle for extrusion of resin onto a work surface;
- curing said extruded resin with a plurality lights, said plurality lights surround said nozzle;
- and
- said plurality of lights spaced a sufficient distance from said nozzle to prevent light from reaching said nozzle.
