Abstract
A thermal management device includes a fin pack and a plurality of channels. The fin pack has a hot side and a cold side, and the plurality of channels in the fin pack provide fluid communication from the hot side to the cold side. The channels have a transverse dimension and a longitudinal dimension, and the longitudinal dimension is at least 2.5 times the transverse dimension.

A thermal management device comprising:
- a base;
- and,
- a fin pack positioned on the base, the fin pack comprising multiple elongate fins extending upwardly from the base, the elongate fins cooperatively defining intakes that are proximate to the base and channels that are distal to the base, the intakes configured to receive air flowing laterally along the base and the channels are configured to receive air from the intakes and to direct the air away from the base, the channels providing radio frequency (RF) shielding by having a longitudinal dimension measured towards and away from the base that is greater than a transverse dimension measured parallel to the base.
An electronic device comprising:
- a heat source;
- a base configured to receive heat from the heat source;
- and,
- a fin pack positioned against the base to define intakes configured to receive fluid flowing across the base, the fin pack defining channels that receive fluid flowing through the intakes and across the base and guide the fluid away from the base, individual channels having a dimension measured toward and away from the base that is greater than a dimension measured along the base.
