Editing Data Within A Data Visualization Tool

An apparatus for updating data in a database directly from a visualization tool, the apparatus comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
• display a writeback panel via a visualization application, the writeback panel including one or more data fields to be changed in the database for a specified database row and database column;
• transmit the updated data, by the visualization application, to a processing application programming interface (API) on a server communicatively coupled to the apparatus;
• receive a response, from the processing API, with a success or failure message that reflects whether the specified database column was updated.

A non-transitory machine-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform steps comprising:

• displaying a writeback panel via a visualization application on a client device, the writeback panel including one or more data fields to be changed in the database for a specified database column;
• transmitting the updated data, by the visualization application, to a processing application programming interface (API) on a server communicatively coupled to the client device;
• updating the database with the updated data for the specified database column;
• and
• responding, by the processing API, with a success or failure message that reflects the update status.
