Abstract
An apparatus, system and method are provided for an electrical stimulation. The apparatus generally includes at least two electrical stimulation units. Each electrical stimulation unit includes electrodes connected to the unit. The apparatus also includes a receiver configured for receiving the one or more control signals from a controller for controlling each of the electrical stimulation units to selectively apply a time-varying electric potential to the electrodes to provide an electrical stimulation to tissue in electrical contact with the electrodes. The apparatus generally includes a heating device.
Claims20
An electrical stimulation system for providing electrical stimulation, the system comprising:
- an electrical stimulation unit configured to generate at least one electrical waveform,
- two electrodes operatively coupled to the electrical stimulation unit and configured to receive the at least one electrical waveform from the electrical stimulation unit;
- a controller configured for controlling the electrical stimulation unit, wherein the electrical stimulation unit is configured to generate the at least one electrical waveform and applies the at least one electrical waveform to the two electrodes in response to receiving a first set of one or more control signals from the controller;
- a heating device operatively coupled to the electrical stimulation unit, wherein the heating device comprising one or more heating pads configured for generating heat in response to a second set of one or more control signals received from the controller and further configured for providing the generated heat to a surface proximate to where the electrodes are applied;
- and
- a belt, wherein the two electrodes are located in an interlayer of the belt, wherein the interlayer is configured to be between an outer portion and an inner portion of the belt, wherein the one or more heating pads are located on the inner portion of the belt, and wherein a position of each electrode of the two electrodes on the outer portion at least partially overlaps a position of a respective heating pad of the one or more heating pads on the inner portion so that an overlapped part of each electrode of the two electrodes and the respective heating pad provides heat to the surface to improve the therapeutic effect of the at least one electrical waveform delivered by the two electrodes.
