Time frequency synchronization–based positioning method and apparatus

A positioning apparatus, wherein the positioning apparatus is used in a first device, and the positioning apparatus comprises:

• a synchronization unit, configured to complete time-frequency synchronization with a second device via a narrowband system, to obtain time-frequency synchronization information;
• a ranging unit, configured to:
• when it is determined, at a media access control (MAC) layer, that the time-frequency synchronization information reaches time-frequency precision associated with a wideband system, perform positioning between the first device and the second device via the wideband system;
• and
• an exchange unit, configured to exchange a positioning result with the second device via the narrowband system.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, having programming instructions stored thereon which, when executed by a first device, cause the first device to perform operations comprising:

• completing time-frequency synchronization with a second device via a narrowband system, to obtain time-frequency synchronization information;
• performing positioning between the first device and the second device via a wideband system in response to determining, at a media access control (MAC) layer, that the time-frequency synchronization information reaches time-frequency precision associated with the wideband system;
• and
• exchanging a positioning result with the second device via the narrowband system.
