A liquid-crystalline medium comprising:
- (i) at least one but not more than three compounds of formula I,
- in which
- R1 denotes an alkyl or alkoxy radical having 1 to 5 C atoms, where, in addition, one or more CH2 groups in these radicals may each be replaced, independently of one another, by —C≡C—, —CF2O—, —CH═CH—,
- —O—, —CO—O—, —O—CO— in such a way that O atoms are not linked directly to one another, and in which, in addition, one or more H atoms may be replaced by halogen,
- R1* denotes an alkyl or alkoxy radical having 1 to 15 C atoms, where, in addition, one or more CH2 groups in these radicals may each be replaced, independently of one another, by —C≡C—, —CF2O—, —CH═CH—,
- —O—, —CO—O—, —O—CO— in such a way that O atoms are not linked directly to one another, and in which, in addition, one or more H atoms may be replaced by halogen,
- Z1 denotes a single bond, —CH2CH2—, —CH═CH—, —CH2O—, —OCH2—, —CF2O—, —OCF2—, —COO—, —OCO—, —C2F4—, —CF═CF—, —CH═CHCHO—,
- L1 and L2 each denote F;
- and
- (ii) at least one compound of the formula CC-n-mV1,
- in which n and m each, independently of one another, denote 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6,
- wherein at least one compound of formula I comprises a compound of formula I-13:
- and wherein at least one compound of formula CC-n-mV1 comprises a compound in which n=3 and m=2, and
- (iii) at least one compound selected from the group of the compounds of the formulae IIA, IIB and IIC,
- in which
- R2A, R2B and R2C each, independently of one another, denote H, an alkyl radical having up to 15 C atoms which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted by CN or CF3 or at least monosubstituted by halogen, where, in addition, one or more CH2 groups in these radicals may be replaced by —O—, —S—,
- —C≡C—, —CF2O—, —OCF2—, —OC—O— or —O—CO— in such a way that O atoms are not linked directly to one another,
- L1-4 each denote F,
- Z2 and Z2′ each, independently of one another, denote a single bond, —CH═CH—, —CF2O—, —OCF2—, —CH2O—, —OCH2—, —COO—, —OCO—, —C2F4—, —CF═CF—, —CH═CHCH2O—,
- p denotes 1 or 2,
- q denotes 1 or 2, and
- v denotes 1 to 6.
