Rope joining

A climbing system comprising:

• a ladder having at least one sheave coupled thereto;
• and
• at least one rope wherein ends of the rope are joined together with a device for joining a first rope to a second rope, wherein the device comprises a first end cap and a second end cap;
• the first end cap configured to receive the first rope therein;
• the second end cap including a first opening on a first side of the second end cap defining an anulus to receive a first end of the second rope, the anulus having a body diameter, the first opening having an outer diameter, the second end cap further comprising a second opening on a second side of the second end cap opposite to the first opening, the second opening defining a cavity configured to receive a link, the cavity having an anulus diameter, wherein the anulus diameter is a greatest internal diameter of the cavity, wherein the anulus diameter is greater than the body diameter and less than the outer diameter;
• and
• the rope forms a continuous loop around the at least one sheave.

A device for joining a first rope to a second rope, the device comprising:

• a first end cap configured to receive a first end of the first rope therein,
• a second end cap including a first opening on a first side of the second end cap defining an anulus to receive a first end of the second rope therein, the anulus having a body diameter, the first opening having an outer diameter, the second end cap further comprising a second opening on a second side of the second end cap opposite to the first opening, the second opening defining a cavity configured to receive a link, the cavity having an anulus diameter, wherein the anulus diameter is a greatest internal diameter of the cavity, wherein the anulus diameter is greater than the body diameter and less than the outer diameter;
• and
• the link configured to link the first end cap to the second end cap.
