Abstract
An air conditioning system includes a vapor compression cycle having a plurality of components including a compressor, an expansion device, and at least one heat exchanger. A heat transfer fluid is configured to circulate within the vapor compression cycle. An energy storage device is selectively operable to supply power to one of the plurality of components. The energy storage device is thermally coupled to the vapor compression cycle.
Claims20
An air conditioning system comprising:
- a vapor compression cycle having a plurality of components including a compressor, an expansion device, and at least one heat exchanger, and a heat transfer fluid is configured to circulate within the vapor compression cycle;
- and
- an energy storage device selectively operable to supply power to one of the plurality of components, wherein the energy storage device is thermally coupled to the vapor compression cycle.
A method of operating an air conditioning system comprising:
- determining that a temperature of an energy storage device is beyond a threshold, the energy storage device being operable to supply power to the air conditioning system;
- and
- managing the temperature of the energy storage device via a heat transfer fluid of the air conditioning system.
