Gossip network for electric vehicle service equipment updates and payment settlement

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising at least one instruction for causing a computer or processor to:

• establish a connection with a wireless device, wherein the wireless device is running an Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) service;
• validate a user identity (ID) for at least one user associated with the wireless device;
• determine if updates are available for one or more software or firmware components of a charging station management system (CSMS) of an Electric Vehicle Service Equipment (EVSE) device;
• and
• if updates are available, initiating transfer for the updates from the wireless device to the EVSE.

A computer-implemented method comprising:

• establishing a connection with a wireless device, wherein the wireless device is running an Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) service;
• validating a user identity (ID) for at least one user associated with the wireless device;
• determining if updates are available for one or more software or firmware components of a charging station management system (CSMS) of an Electric Vehicle Service Equipment (EVSE) device;
• and
• if updates are available, transferring the updates from the wireless device to the EVSE.
