Self cleaning cold plate

An information handling system comprising:

• a processor;
• a cold plate to provide liquid cooling to the processor;
• a cooling distribution unit to provide a cold liquid flow to the cold plate and to receive a hot liquid flow from the cold plate;
• and
• a cooling liquid flow switch coupled in between the cold plate and the cooling distribution unit, wherein the cold liquid flow and the hot liquid flow travel through the cooling liquid flow switch, the cooling liquid flow switch including:
• a plate including:
• an opening in a center of the plate;
• and
• a plurality of flow channels;
• and
• a rotatable insert located within the opening of the plate, the rotatable insert to rotate between first and second positions, the rotatable insert to create a first liquid flow configuration within the flow channels when in the first position, and the rotatable insert to create a second liquid flow configuration within the flow channels when in the second position.

A cooling liquid flow switch for an information handling system, the cooling liquid flow switch comprising:

• a plate including:
• an opening in a center of the plate;
• and
• a plurality of flow channels;
• a rotatable insert located within the opening of the plate, the rotatable insert to rotate between first and second positions, the rotatable insert to create a first liquid flow configuration within the flow channels when in the first position, and the rotatable insert to create a second liquid flow configuration within the flow channels when in the second position;
• a bottom plate including a second rotatable insert;
• a rod extending between the rotatable insert of the plate and the second rotatable insert of the bottom plate, wherein the rod causes the rotatable insert and the second rotatable insert to rotate at a same time;
• a first cooling liquid pipe in physical communication with a first edge of the plate near a second edge of the plate;
• and
• a second cooling liquid pipe in physical communication with a third edge of the plate near the second edge of the plate.
