Abstract

A wireless device receives, from a base station, an RRC release message comprising a suspend configuration comprising a configuration for an SDT procedure indicating one or more radio bearers configured for the SDT procedure. The wireless device transitions to an RRC inactive state, receives, from the base station, a SIB comprising a timer value of a SDT timer for transitioning the wireless device to an RRC idle state, determines one or more conditions, for initiating the SDT procedure, being fulfilled, and transmits an RRC resume request message and starts the SDT timer.

Dependent claims

A method, comprising:

receiving, by a wireless device from a base station, a radio resource control (RRC) release message comprising a suspend configuration, wherein:
the suspend configuration comprises a configuration for a small data transmission (SDT) procedure to transmit or receive SDT data in the RRC inactive state;
and
the configuration for the SDT procedure indicates one or more radio bearers configured for the SDT procedure;
transitioning, based on the suspend configuration, to an RRC inactive state;
receiving, from the base station and while the wireless device is in the RRC inactive state, a system information block (SIB) comprising a timer value of a SDT timer for transitioning the wireless device to an RRC idle state;
determining one or more conditions, for initiating the SDT procedure, being fulfilled, wherein the one or more conditions comprises:
the SIB comprises an SDT common configuration;
and
all pending data, in uplink, is mapped to the one or more radio bearers configured for the SDT procedure;
and
based on the determining:
transmitting an RRC resume request message;
and
starting the SDT timer.

A wireless device comprising one or more processors and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive, from a base station, a radio resource control (RRC) release message comprising a suspend configuration, wherein:
the suspend configuration comprises a configuration for a small data transmission (SDT) procedure to transmit or receive SDT data in the RRC inactive state;
and
the configuration for the SDT procedure indicates one or more radio bearers configured for the SDT procedure;
transition, based on the suspend configuration, to an RRC inactive state;
receive, from the base station and while the wireless device is in the RRC inactive state, a system information block (SIB) comprising a timer value of a SDT timer for transitioning the wireless device to an RRC idle state;
determine one or more conditions, for initiating the SDT procedure, being fulfilled, wherein the one or more conditions comprises:
the SIB comprises an SDT common configuration;
and
all pending data, in uplink, is mapped to the one or more radio bearers configured for the SDT procedure;
and
based on the determining:
transmit an RRC resume request message;
and
start the SDT timer.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause a wireless device to:

receive, from a base station, a radio resource control (RRC) release message comprising a suspend configuration, wherein:
the suspend configuration comprises a configuration for a small data transmission (SDT) procedure to transmit or receive SDT data in the RRC inactive state;
and
the configuration for the SDT procedure indicates one or more radio bearers configured for the SDT procedure;
transition, based on the suspend configuration, to an RRC inactive state;
receive, from the base station and while the wireless device is in the RRC inactive state, a system information block (SIB) comprising a timer value of a SDT timer for transitioning the wireless device to an RRC idle state;
determine one or more conditions, for initiating the SDT procedure, being fulfilled, wherein the one or more conditions comprises:

and
all pending data, in uplink, is mapped to the one or more radio bearers configured for the SDT procedure;
and
based on the determining:
transmit an RRC resume request message;

start the SDT timer.
