Rechargeable battery

A rechargeable lithium battery, comprising

• a cylindrical can having a volume of about 10 to about 140 cubic centimeter (cm3);
• an electrode assembly in the cylindrical can;
• and
• an electrolyte in the electrode assembly,
• wherein the electrolyte comprises
• a non-aqueous organic solvent;
• a lithium salt comprising a lithium imide salt;
• and
• an additive comprising a compound represented by Chemical Formula 1, and
• the lithium imide salt comprises an amount of about 20 to about 70 wt % based on a total amount of the lithium salt:
• and
• wherein, in Chemical Formula 1,
• X1 is a halogen atom;
• Y1 and Y2 are each independently O or S;
• and
• R1 and R2 are each independently, H, a halogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C10 alkyl group, vinyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted C6 to C10 aryl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted C2 to C10 heteroaryl group comprising a hetero atom of N, O, S, or P.
