Automatic identification and attachment of replicated volumes to application

A non-transitory computer readable medium, storing instructions for executing a process, the instructions comprising:

• managing volume management information indicative of a relationship between an application and a volume used by the application;
• for receipt of a first request to make the application ready for takeover to another location, updating the volume management information to indicate that another volume of the another location is associated with the application;
• for receipt of a second request to conduct volume attachment for the application:
• identifying one or more volumes associated with the application based on the volume management information;
• and
• attaching an identified volume from the identified one or more volumes to the application.

An apparatus, comprising:

• a processor, configured to:
• manage volume management information indicative of a relationship between an application and a volume used by the application;
• for receipt of a first request to make the application ready for takeover to another location, update the volume management information to indicate that another volume of the another location is associated with the application;
• for receipt of a second request to conduct volume attachment for the application:
• identify one or more volumes associated with the application based on the volume management information;
• and
• attach an identified volume from the identified one or more volumes to the application.
