Abstract
Methods of further reducing cardiovascular risk in subjects with coronary artery disease on moderate intensity statins. For example, methods may prevent an adverse cardiovascular event in a subject in need thereof, on a dosage of 1 mg/day pitavastatin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, when the subject has an LDL-C concentration less than 120 mg/dL, by increasing the dosage to 4 mg/day for a therapeutically effective period of time.
Claims56
A method of preventing an adverse cardiovascular event in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising:
- in the subject, on a dosage of 1 mg/day pitavastatin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, when the subject has an LDL-C concentration less than 120 mg/dl, increasing the dosage to 4 mg/day for a therapeutically effective period of time.
A method of preventing an adverse cardiovascular event in a subject with stable coronary artery disease, the method comprising:
- administering to the subject 4 mg/day of pitavastatin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for a therapeutically effective period of time.
A method of preventing an adverse cardiovascular event and modulating a biomarker of cardiovascular risk in a subject with stable coronary artery disease, the method comprising:
- administering to the subject in need thereof 4 mg/day of pitavastatin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for a therapeutically effective period of time, wherein the modulating comprises:
- a. decreasing LDL-C levels in the subject;
- b. increasing HDL-C levels in the subject;
- c. decreasing TG levels in the subject;
- d. decreasing hs-CRP levels in the subject;
- or
- e. all or a combination thereof.
