In one example, the smart patch includes a drug-containing layer, a communication interface, and one or more sensors configured to detect a status change of the smart patch to the smart patch, the status change of the smart patch including one or more of removing a packaging from the smart patch and applying the smart patch to skin of the patient. The smart patch further includes a processor communicatively coupled to the one or more sensors and the communication interface, wherein the processor is configured to perform operations including automatically transiting between a plurality of working conditions based on the status change of the smart patch, the plurality of working conditions of the smart patch comprising a hibernation mode, a sleep mode, and a work mode and transmitting smart patch usage data via the communication interface.
