Liquid cooling system with rotatable joint

A liquid cooling system for cooling a heat-generating electronic component, the liquid cooling system comprising:

• a cold plate configured to contact the heat-generating electronic component;
• a first fluid pipe fluidly coupled to the cold plate;
• a rotatable joint fluidly coupled to the first fluid pipe;
• and
• a second fluid pipe fluidly coupled to the rotatable joint,
• wherein the rotatable joint is movable between a first position and a second position such that the first fluid pipe is fluidly coupled to the second fluid pipe through the rotatable joint when the rotatable joint is in either of the first position and the second position.

A method for servicing a liquid cooling system or a heat-generating electronic component, the method comprising:

• rotating a cold plate of the liquid cooling system from a first position to a second position so that the cold plate is not in contact with the heat-generating electronic component when in the second position;
• after rotating the cold plate to the second position, performing maintenance on the cold plate, the heat-generating electronic component, or both;
• and
• rotating the cold plate from the second position to the first position so that the cold plate contacts the heat-generating electronic component when in the first position,
• wherein the cold plate is fluidly coupled to at least one fluid pipe of the liquid cooling system via a rotatable joint when the cold plate is in either of the first position and the second position.
