Abstract
The present disclosure relates to a functionalized cyclic ether that is useful for stable cycling, storage of lithium-ion cells at high temperatures, and performance at low temperatures, an electrolyte containing the functionalized cyclic ether, and an electrochemical energy storage device containing the electrolyte.
Claims32
An electrolyte composition comprising:
- an aprotic organic solvent system;
- a metal salt;
- and
- at least one functionalized cyclic ether according to formulas I, II, III or IV:
- wherein:
- R1 is a hydrogen, halogen, C1-C12 substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, C6-C14 aryl group, or R2;
- R2 is a C1-C12 substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, or C6-C14 aryl group;
- X is independently oxygen or sulfur;
- A1 is a trialkylsilyl, alkylsulfonate, C1-C12 substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group terminating in a nitrile group, with the proviso that if X is oxygen, then A1 is not an alkylsulfonate;
- and
- A2, A3, and A4 are a difluorophosphite, trialkylsilyl, alkylsulfonate, or a C1-C12 substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group terminating in a nitrile group, with the proviso that if X is oxygen, then A3 and A4 are not an alkylsulfonate nor a C1-C12 substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group terminating in a nitrile group.
