Method and system for deghosting

A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising computer-executable instructions stored thereon that, when executed on by processor, cause the processor to perform steps comprising:

• obtaining seismic data regarding a subsurface region of interest, wherein the seismic data comprises time-space pressure data;
• determining a pressure derivative with respect to depth based on the time-space pressure data;
• determining a phase-shifted pressure derivative by applying a phase-shift filter to the pressure derivative;
• determining a transformed phase-shifted pressure derivative by decomposing the phase-shifted pressure derivative into components of a frequency and a horizontal wavenumber;
• determining transformed phase-shifted pressure data based, at least in part, on the transformed phase-shifted pressure derivative;
• determining time-space filtered pressure data by inverse transforming the transformed phase-shifted pressure data;
• determining a first direction wavefield and a second direction wavefield based, at least in part, on the time-space pressure data and the time-space filtered pressure data;
• and
• generating a seismic image based, at least in part, on the first direction wavefield or the second direction wavefield.

A system, comprising:

• a seismic acquisition system configured to record seismic data regarding a subsurface region of interest, wherein the seismic data comprises time-space pressure data;
• and
• a seismic processor configured to:
• obtain the seismic data regarding the subsurface region of interest,
• determine a pressure derivative with respect to depth based on the time-space pressure data,
• determine a phase-shifted pressure derivative by applying a phase-shift filter to the pressure derivative,
• determine a transformed phase-shifted pressure derivative by decomposing the phase-shifted pressure derivative into components of a frequency and a horizontal wavenumber,
• determine transformed phase-shifted pressure data based, at least in part, on the transformed phase-shifted pressure derivative,
• determine time-space filtered pressure data by inverse transforming the transformed phase-shifted pressure data,
• determine a first direction wavefield and a second direction wavefield based, at least in part, on the time-space pressure data and the time-space filtered pressure data, and
• generate a seismic image based, at least in part, on the first direction wavefield or the second direction wavefield.
