Debris filtering arrangement for nuclear fuel assembly bottom nozzle and bottom nozzle including same

A filtering arrangement for use in a bottom nozzle of a fuel assembly in a nuclear reactor, the filtering arrangement comprising:

• a top surface;
• a bottom surface;
• a plurality of vertical wall portions arranged in a first squared grid pattern, wherein the plurality of vertical wall portions extend between the bottom surface and the top surface and define a plurality of passages extending between the bottom surface and the top surface;
• a plurality of first debris filters, each first debris filter positioned between the top surface and the bottom surface to span across one of the plurality of passages;
• and
• a plurality of second debris filters, each positioned between the top surface and the first debris filter to span across one of the plurality of passages.

A bottom nozzle assembly for use in a fuel assembly in a nuclear reactor, the bottom nozzle assembly comprising:

• a rectangular base portion;
• and
• a filtering arrangement coupled to the rectangular base portion, wherein the filtering arrangement comprises:
• a top surface;
• a bottom surface;
• a plurality of vertical wall portions arranged in a first squared grid pattern, wherein the plurality of vertical wall portions extend between the bottom surface and the top surface and define a plurality of passages extending between the bottom surface and the top surface;
• a plurality of first debris filters, each first debris filter positioned between the top surface and the bottom surface to span across one of the plurality of passages;
• and
• a plurality of second debris filters, each positioned between the top surface and the first debris filter to span across one of the plurality of passages.

A filtering arrangement for use in a bottom nozzle of a fuel assembly in a nuclear reactor, the filtering arrangement comprising:

• a top surface;
• a bottom surface;
• a plurality of wall portions extending between the bottom surface and the top surface to define a plurality of passages extending between the bottom surface and the top surface;
• a first debris filter positioned between the top surface and the bottom surface to span across a passage of the plurality of passages;
• and
• a second debris filter positioned between the top surface and the first debris filter to span across the passage.
