Method and apparatus for requesting positioning assistance data based on received system information in mobile wireless communication system

A terminal comprising:

• a transceiver,
• a memory, and
• a controller coupled to the transceiver and the memory, wherein the controller is configured to cause the terminal to:
• receive a system information block (SIB), wherein the SIB comprises a set of scheduling parameters and a set of positioning scheduling parameters;
• receive a first positioning System Information (SI), wherein the first positioning SI comprises a first positioning SIB, wherein the first positioning SIB comprises a first type Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) data;
• and
• transmit an uplink message to request assistance data, wherein the uplink message comprise an identifier associated with the first type PRS data,
• wherein the set of scheduling parameters comprises:
• a parameter for SI window length;
• and
• one or more pieces of scheduling information,
• wherein each piece of scheduling information corresponds to a SI,
• wherein the set of positioning scheduling parameter comprises one or more pieces of positioning scheduling information,
• wherein each piece of positioning scheduling information corresponds to a positioning SI,
• wherein the first positioning SI is received based on:
• the parameter for SI window length in the set of scheduling parameters;
• the one or more pieces of scheduling information in the set of scheduling parameters;
• and
• the one or more pieces of positioning scheduling information in the set of positioning parameters,
• wherein the first type PRS data comprises:
• a set of PRS parameters;
• and
• the identifier associated with the first type PRS data,
• wherein the uplink message further comprises indication that a second type PRS data is requested, and
• wherein the second type PRS data comprises PRS parameters that is conditionally valid.
