Network slicing in a wireless communication network

A method comprising:

• identifying a first network slice and a second network slice to serve a user application;
• determining a performance level for the first network slice to serve the user application;
• determining a first network address for the first network slice to serve the user application and determining a second network address for the second network slice to serve the user application;
• exchanging first user data using the first network slice to serve the user application;
• stopping the exchange of the first user data using the first network slice to serve the user application in response to a comparison of actual performance of the first network slice to the performance level for the first network slice;
• and
• exchanging second user data using the second network slice to serve the user application in response to the comparison of the actual performance of the first network slice to the performance level for the first network slice.

A wireless communication device comprising:

• circuitry to determine a first network slice and a second network slice to serve a user application;
• the circuitry to identify a performance level for the first network slice to serve the user application;
• a radio to exchange first user data using the first network slice to serve the user application;
• the circuitry to determine actual performance of the first network slice to serve the user application;
• the circuitry to compare the actual performance of the first network slice to the performance level for the first network slice, and in response, to stop the exchange of the first user data over the radio to serve the user application using the first network slice and to start an exchange of second user data over the radio to serve the user application using the second network slice;
• and
• the radio to exchange the second user data using the second network slice to serve the user application.
