Abstract
Provided herein are processes for making an anode containing an anode material, a protective material, and a current collector. The anode material is a mixture containing an active material, at least one electronically conductive agent and at least one binder. The active material may be an alloy of silicon and lithium or an alloy of silicon oxide and lithium. Processes also include use of the anodes in the fabrication of a battery.
Claims20
A process for preparation of an anode, the process comprising:
- a) preparing a composition for an anode material, by mixing, in a first solvent, an active material or a precursor thereof, a first binder, and a first electronically conductive agent;
- b) preparing a composition for a protective film, by mixing, in a second solvent, a second electronically conductive agent and a second binder;
- c) depositing, on a metal foil, a film of the composition for the anode material, and removing the first solvent;
- and
- d) depositing, on the film of the anode material, the composition for the protective film, and removing the second solvent.
