Design tool for object placement within a defined environment

A computer system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• one or more hardware storage devices that store instructions that are executable by the one or more processors to cause the computer system to:
• receive a set of measurements detailing dimensions of an area;
• display, within a user interface (UI), a design layout area, wherein the design layout area is configured to virtually represent the area such that dimensions of the design layout area correspond to the dimensions of the area;
• in response to a first object being placed at a location within the design layout area, trigger application of a set of predefined rules that govern placement of objects within the design layout area;
• and
• determine that placement of the first object at the location does not violate the set of predefined rules and permit the placement of the first object, wherein the location is within a threshold distance of a second object but does not contact the second object such that a gap exists between the first object and the second object, and wherein the gap is automatically filled using a third object.

One or more hardware storage devices that store instructions that are executable by one or more processors to cause the one or more processors to:

• receive a set of measurements detailing dimensions of an area;
• display, within a user interface (UI), a design layout area, wherein the design layout area is configured to virtually represent the area such that dimensions of the design layout area correspond to the dimensions of the area;
• in response to a first object being placed at a location within the design layout area, trigger application of a set of predefined rules that govern placement of objects within the design layout area;
• and
• determine that placement of the first object at the location does not violate the set of predefined rules and permit the placement of the first object, wherein the location is within a threshold distance of a second object but does not contact the second object such that a gap exists between the first object and the second object, and wherein the gap is automatically filled using a third object.
