Abstract
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for bounded fault compliant metadata storage. Memory devices include a first data terminal and a second data terminal. As part of an access operation a first set of data and a first set of metadata may be sent/received across the first terminal and a second set of data and a second set of metadata may be sent/received across the second terminal. The first set of metadata may be stored in a first location and the second set of metadata may be stored in a second location in the memory array, such as a first and second column plane. The two locations may be remote from each other.

An apparatus comprising:
- a first data terminal configured to receive a first portion of a plurality of data bits and a first portion of a plurality of metadata bits;
- a second data terminal configured to receive a second portion of the plurality of data bits and a second portion of the plurality of metadata bits;
- a column decoder configured to select a first portion or a second portion of a plurality of column planes based on a column address;
- and
- a memory array comprising:
- a first column plane configured to store the first portion of the plurality of metadata bits;
- and
- a second column plane configured to store the second portion of the plurality of metadata bits, wherein the first column plane and the second column plane are in the non-selected one of the first portion or the second portion of the plurality of a column planes.
A memory module comprising:
- an error correction memory device;
- a plurality of pseudo-channels, each pseudo-channel comprising:
- a first data terminal;
- and
- a second data terminal;
- and
- a plurality of memory devices, each associated with at least one of the plurality of pseudo channels, each of the plurality of memory devices comprising a first portion and a second portion of a plurality of column planes,
- wherein during a write operation to a selected one of the plurality of memory devices, an associated one of the pseudo-channels is configured to receive a first portion of a plurality of a data bits and a first portion of a plurality of metadata bits along the first data terminal and to receive a second portion of the plurality of data bits and a second portion of the plurality of metadata bits,
- wherein the plurality of data bits are written to a selected one of the first portion or the second portion of the plurality of column planes,
- wherein the first portion of the plurality of metadata bits is written to a first location in a non-selected one of the first portion or the second portion of the plurality of column planes, and
- wherein the second portion of the plurality of metadata bits is written to a second location in the non-selected one of the first portion or the second portion of the plurality of column planes.
A method comprising:
- receiving a first set of metadata bits and a first set of data bits along a first data terminal;
- receiving a second set of metadata bits and a second set of data bits along a second data terminal;
- selecting a first set of column planes from a plurality of column planes based on a column plane select bit;
- writing the first set of data bits and the second set of data bits to the selected first set of column planes;
- and
- writing the first set of metadata bits to a first one of a non-selected second set of column planes from the plurality of column planes and writing the second set of metadata bits to a second one of the non-selected second set of column planes.
