Tonneau system for use with a pickup truck

A solar-integrated tonneau system for use with a cargo box of a pickup truck, the tonneau system comprising:

• a tonneau cover comprising a plurality of tonneau sections including at least a first tonneau section and a second tonneau section;
• a hinge system positioned between the first tonneau section and the second tonneau section and configured to permit pivoting of the first tonneau section and the second tonneau section relative to each other;
• a solar energy-receiving material disposed on or along a top exposed surface of the first tonneau section and the second tonneau section, thus forming a top exposed surface of at least a portion of the tonneau system;
• and
• an energy storage system electrically coupled to the solar energy-receiving material for storing and deploying power generated by the solar energy-receiving material, wherein the solar energy-receiving material of one of the first or second tonneau section is electrically coupled to the energy storage system through an electrical connection to the other of the first or second tonneau section.
