Abstract
An integrally woven or knitted textile, such as a tubular graft or sheet, includes a base textile layer and at least one pouch or flap. In the case of a graft, the textile has at least one longitudinal tubular graft portion, and at least one pouch or flap integrally woven from at least a portion of the same set of yarns. Methods of making the same are also disclosed.
Claims21
An integrally woven or knitted textile having a first end, a second end and a length there between, comprising:
- at least one longitudinal textile portion woven or knitted from a set of yarns such that the longitudinal textile portion has an inner surface and an outer surface;
- and
- at least one pouch woven or knitted from at least a portion of said set of yarns and integrally woven or knitted with the longitudinal textile portion such that the at least one pouch comprises an inner surface and an outer surface and such that the inner surface of the pouch faces the outer surface of the longitudinal textile portion so as to define an opening that leads to an open inner space between the inner surface of the pouch and the outer surface of the longitudinal textile portion,
- wherein the outer surface of the longitudinal textile portion defines a first peripheral portion of the opening, wherein an edge of the inner surface of the first pouch defines a second peripheral portion of the opening,
- wherein, if integrally woven, the set of yarns comprises at least one set of warp yarns or ends and at least one set of weft yarns or picks,
- wherein, if integrally knitted, the set of yarns comprises at least one set of yarns for the wales and courses.
An integrally woven or knitted textile having a first end, a second end and a length there between, the textile comprising:
- a tubular main body formed of a woven or knitted set of yarns and defining an inner surface and an outer surface;
- and
- at least one pouch or flap woven or knitted from at least a portion of the set of yarns that form the tubular main body,
- wherein the at least one pouch or flap comprises an inner surface and an outer surface,
- wherein the pouch or flap and the outer surface of the tubular main body define an open inner space therebetween for receipt of at least a portion of an element therein.
An integrally woven tubular graft having a first end, a second end and a length there between, the graft comprising:
- a main body formed of a woven set of yarns and defining an inner surface and an outer surface;
- and
- at least one pouch defining at least a first side, a second side, and a third side, wherein at least the second side and the third side are integrally woven to the main body from at least a portion of the set of yarns such that the pouch and the outer surface of the main body define an open inner space therebetween for receipt of at least a portion of an element therein,
- wherein the first side of the at least one pouch is free from connection to the main body so as to form an opening for receipt of the at least a portion of the element therethrough.
An integrally woven or knitted textile having a first end, a second end and a length there between, the textile comprising:
- a tubular main body formed of a woven or knitted set of yarns and defining an inner surface and an outer surface;
- and
- at least one flap or tab woven or knitted from at least a portion of the set of yarns that form the tubular main body,
- wherein the at least one flap or tab comprises an inner surface and an outer surface,
- wherein the at least one flap or tab and the tubular main body provide protection for an element positioned with respect thereto.
