Abstract
During a time period in which a server is in a locked state, such that execution of an application at the server is not permitted, a reception of a radio message at the server is detected. In response to determining that the radio message satisfies an unlocking criterion associated with the server, the server is caused to exit the locked state, and execution of the application is initiated at the server.
Claims20
A system, comprising:
- a control plane server located at a data center of a cloud provider network;
- and
- a field-reconfigurable server comprising a base unit and a pluggable hardware module attached to the base unit, wherein the base unit comprises a primary processor, wherein a configuration manager runs on the primary processor, and wherein the pluggable hardware module comprises an auxiliary processor for implementing at least a portion of an application;
- wherein the control plane server is configured to:
- transmit, via a programmatic interface to an administrator of the field-reconfigurable server, (a) unlocking metadata associated with the field-reconfigurable server and (b) instructions for storing the unlocking metadata at a radio-equipped device;
- and
- wherein the configuration manager is configured to:
- in response to detecting, during a time period in which (a) connectivity is unavailable between the field-reconfigurable server and the data center and (b) the field-reconfigurable server is in a locked state, wherein execution of the application is prohibited at the field-reconfigurable server while the field-reconfigurable server remains in the locked state, that content of a radio message received at the field-reconfigurable server from the radio-equipped device was generated using the unlocking metadata,
- cause the field-reconfigurable server to exit the locked state;
- and
- initiate, after the field-reconfigurable server has exited the locked state, execution of the application using at least the auxiliary processor of the pluggable hardware module.
8 more elements
A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- transmitting, via a programmatic interface from a cloud computing environment, to an administrator of a first application which is to be run using one or more pluggable hardware modules attached to a base unit of a server, unlocking metadata to be propagated to authorized users of the first application;
- in response to detecting, at the server during a time period in which (a) network connectivity is unavailable between the server and the cloud computing environment and (b) the server is in a locked state, wherein the first application is not executed at the server while the server remains in the locked state, that a radio message received at the server from a particular device satisfies a criterion associated with the unlocking metadata,
- causing the server to exit the locked state;
- and
- initiating, after the server has exited the locked state, execution of the first application using a first pluggable hardware module attached to the server.
2 more elements
A non-transitory computer-accessible storage medium storing program instructions that when executed on a processor:
- detect, at a server during a time period in which the server is in a locked state, wherein execution of a first application at the server is not permitted while the server remains in the locked state, that a radio message has been received at the server;
- in response to determining that the radio message satisfies an unlocking criterion associated with the server,
- cause the server to exit the locked state;
- and
- initiate, after the server has exited the locked state, execution of the first application at the server.
