Managing connection timers for border gateway protocol in a computing environment

A computing apparatus comprising:

• a storage system;
• a processing system operatively coupled to the storage system;
• and
• program instructions on the storage system that, when executed by the processing system, direct the computing apparatus to:
• identify a deployment configuration of gateways in a computing environment;
• identify one or more border gateway protocol (BGP) connections for timer updates in the computing environment based on the deployment configuration;
• and
• configure one or more of the gateways to reduce one or more timers associated with reconnecting the one or more BGP connections in response to a failure.

A system comprising:

• gateways;
• and
• a management service computing system configured to:
• identify a deployment configuration of gateways in a computing environment;
• identify one or more border gateway protocol (BGP) connections for timer updates in the computing environment based on the deployment configuration;
• and
• configure one or more of the gateways to reduce one or more timers associated with reconnecting the one or more BGP connections in response to a failure.
