Enhancing performance in network-based systems

A computing system, comprising:

• processing circuitry;
• and
• a memory device including instructions embodied thereon, wherein the instructions, which when executed by the processing circuitry, configure the processing circuitry to perform operations that:
• identify a data path that represents a data flow of at least one application configured to execute on the computing system;
• determine, from the data path, resource usage patterns of the at least one application and processing stages of the at least one application;
• modify prioritization for contended resources of the computing system, based on the resource usage patterns of the at least one application;
• and
• modify scheduling for the contended resources of the computing system, based on the processing stages of the at least one application.

At least one non-transitory machine-readable medium capable of storing instructions, wherein the instructions when executed by at least one processor of a computing device, cause the at least one processor to:

• identify a data path that represents a data flow of at least one application configured to execute on the computing device;
• determine, from the data path, resource usage patterns of the at least one application and processing stages of the at least one application;
• modify prioritization for contended resources of the computing device, based on the resource usage patterns of the at least one application;
• and
• modify scheduling for the contended resources of the computing device, based on the processing stages of the at least one application.
