Abstract
There is presented a battery comprising at least one densified expanded polymer membrane covering an opening of a housing. The at least one densified expanded polymer membrane may have a crystallinity of 75% to 100%. In some embodiments, the at least one densified expanded polymer membrane has a CO2 permeability to water vapour permeability ratio of more than 0.5.
Claims15
A battery comprising:
- a housing comprising an opening;
- a positive electrode that is at least partially disposed within the housing;
- a negative electrode that is at least partially disposed within the housing;
- an electrolyte disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode;
- and
- at least one densified expanded polymer membrane covering the opening of the housing,
- wherein the electrolyte is configured to release at least one gas during operation of the battery,
- wherein the at least one gas is chosen from Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Hydrogen (H2), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Methane (CH4) or any combination thereof;
- and
- wherein the at least one densified expanded polymer membrane has a crystallinity of 75% to 100%;
- wherein the at least one densified expanded polymer membrane has a CO2 permeability to water vapour permeability ratio of more than 0.5.
