Adjusting a storage system parameter using a container image to meet a performance objective

A method comprising:

• determining, by a scheduler of a control plane, a performance objective for a container scheduled by the control plane, the performance objective being associated with a software application of the container and determinable using a container image of the container;
• tagging, by the control plane, an IO request of the container with an IO tag based on the performance objective;
• and
• causing an adjustment to a parameter for a storage system based on the IO tag for the IO request of the container.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising program code executable by a processing device for causing the processing device to perform operations comprising:

• determining, by a scheduler of a control plane, a performance objective for a container scheduled by the control plane, the performance objective being associated with a software application of the container and determinable using a container image of the container;
• tagging, by the control plane, an IO request of the container with an IO tag based on the performance objective;
• and
• causing an adjustment to a parameter for a storage system based on the IO tag for the IO request of the container.
