Tabletop speaker system

An entertainment system for an environment, the entertainment system comprising:

• a first container configured to hold one or more first user devices;
• a second container configured to hold one or more second user devices;
• a sensor system configured to generate sensor data indicative of a presence of the one or more first user devices in the first container and the one or more second user devices in the second container;
• and
• one or more processors configured to:
• in response to identifying the presence of the one or more first user devices in the first container based on the sensor data, directly communicate with the one or more first user devices to instruct the one or more first user devices to play one or more audio tracks in coordination with one or more show effects of a show;
• and
• in response to identifying the presence of the one or more second user devices in the second container based on the sensor data, directly communicate with the one or more second user devices to instruct the one or more second user devices to play the one or more audio tracks in coordination with the one or more show effects of the show.

A method of operating an entertainment system, the method comprising:

• receiving, at one or more processors, sensor data indicative of a presence of one or more first user devices in a first container;
• receiving, at the one or more processors, additional sensor data indicative of a respective presence of one or more second user devices in a second container;
• instructing, using the one or more processors to directly communicate with the one or more first user devices, the one or more first user devices to play one or more audio tracks in response to identifying the presence of the one or more first user devices in the first container based on the sensor data in coordination with one or more show effects of a show;
• and
• instructing, using the one or more processors to directly communicate with the one or more second user devices, the one or more second user devices to play the one or more audio tracks in coordination with the one or more show effects of the show in response to identifying the respective presence of the one or more second user devices in the second container based on the sensor data.
