Display device including a liquid crystal layer including polymers and liquid crystal molecules

A display device comprising:

• a first substrate including a first signal line, a second signal line next to the first signal line in a first direction, a first scanning line, a second scanning line next to the first scanning line in a second direction intersecting the first direction, a drain electrode, an inorganic insulating film covering the first signal line, the second signal line, and the drain electrode, an organic insulating film on the inorganic insulating film, and a pixel electrode connected to the drain electrode;
• a second substrate including a common electrode;
• and
• a liquid crystal layer located between the first substrate and the second substrate, and including streaky polymers and liquid crystal molecules, wherein
• the organic insulating film is formed of a grid shape along the first signal line, the second signal line, the first scanning line, and the second signal line,
• the organic insulating film includes an opening in a pixel region surrounded by the first signal line, the second signal line, the first scanning line, and the second scanning line,
• a connection portion of the drain electrode is located in the opening,
• the inorganic insulating film is exposed from the organic insulating film by the opening, and
• the pixel electrode is connected to the drain electrode via a contact hole formed in the inorganic insulating film.
