TUNABLE LASER LIGHT SOURCE AND LiDAR APPARATUS INCLUDING THE SAME

A light detection and ranging (LiDAR) apparatus comprising:

• a substrate;
• a waveguide layer disposed on the substrate, and comprising a plurality of pairs of optical amplifiers and optical modulators, wherein the plurality of pairs are spaced apart from each other in a first direction, and each pair of an optical amplifier and an optical modulator, among the plurality of pairs, is arranged in a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction;
• and
• a thermal isolation structure configured to thermally isolate the plurality of pairs from each other in the first direction,
• wherein in the thermal isolation structure, the waveguide layer is disconnected in the first direction by the thermal isolation structure such that an upper surface of the substrate is exposed outside of the waveguide layer.

An electronic apparatus comprising:

• a substrate;
• a waveguide layer disposed on the substrate;
• and
• at least two semiconductor elements provided on the waveguide layer and configured to generate heat during operation,
• wherein the waveguide layer is disconnected between the at least two semiconductor elements to expose the substrate located between the at least two semiconductor elements.
